Celebrated local artist Martin Edge will leave an indelible mark on Museum of Brisbane as a 2026 Artist in Residence, inviting visitors to witness the creation of striking, large-scale murals of Brisbane as part of his 11-week residency. Martin’s colourful and playful works capture both real and imagined snapshots of his everyday life.
From April 27, visitors can step inside the museum’s Fairfax Gallery and watch as Martin creates large-scale murals across the gallery walls, offering a rare glimpse of the award-winning artist in situ as the artworks take shape.
Over the course of three weeks, Martin will transform the space with vibrant works depicting two scenes of Brisbane City, rendered in his signature style – bright colours, flat geometric forms and recognisable landmarks.
A self-described naïve painter, Martin often blends real experiences with imagined adventures, creating works that are both joyful and whimsical. Visitors are invited to drop by throughout the residency to watch the murals evolve and gain an inside look at the artist’s creative process.
MoB’s Artist in Residence program is supported by Tim Fairfax AC. Martin Edge’s residency is supported by The Culture Crusader.
