Cremorne Theatre, QPACCnr Grey and Melbourne St, South Brisbane Directions
Court-mandated anger management, passive-aggressive ‘yummy mummies’ and plenty of G&T-fuelled oversharing – PRAMKICKER is bringing chaos, comedy and catharsis to QPAC this July.
Written by acclaimed English playwright Sadie Hasler, the witty and dark production stars Sarah Ann McLeod and Sarah Ogden – the brains behind Brisbane-based independent feminist theatre collective, MO Theatre. This no-holds-barred show takes a wildly honest look at motherhood, modern womanhood and the simmering rage so many women are told to keep tucked away.
The brutally funny and emotionally raw story follows sisters Jude and Susie, after Jude is arrested for kicking a pram in a cafe. Forced into anger management sessions, Jude reluctantly shows up with Susie beside her, though it quickly becomes clear the sisters are both carrying far more baggage than they’d care to admit.
Co-directed by Brisbane creatives Amy Ingram and Nerida Matthaei, PRAMKICKER by Sadie Hasler tears into the pressures, expectations and identity crises that can come with adulthood, while still leaving room for humour, vulnerability and sisterly chaos. If you like your theatre sharp, messy and a little bit unhinged, this one’s worth locking into the calendar.
Tickets are on sale now via the QPAC website.
