Step into the world of one of Earth’s oldest and most formidable survivors at Queensland Museum’s new exhibition, Croc! Lost Giants to Living Legends. This immersive, all-ages experience takes visitors on a journey spanning more than 130 million years, tracing the crocodile’s incredible story from prehistoric ‘supercrocs’ that once prowled the planet alongside dinosaurs to the species that continue to inspire awe and fascination today.
Marvel at life-sized prehistoric giants, dramatic fossil displays and interactive experiences that bring you face-to-face with these mighty beasts – including Sarcosuchus, a 130-million-year-old crocodilian.
Test your knowledge of life in ‘croc country’, explore real-world conservation tools, and discover how crocodiles have evolved, adapted and endured through millennia. The exhibition also celebrates deep cultural connections, featuring striking First Nations artworks that share stories of Sea Country, alongside global perspectives on the crocodile’s enduring influence in culture, design and tradition.
Ready to sink your teeth in? The world premiere exhibition launches with a huge opening weekend on Saturday October 25, packed with unmissable events. Join Bernard Lee Singleton Jr. and Dr Bernie Singleton for Croc! Yarns (10:00 am) as they share stories of heritage and habitat, then hear from acclaimed Torres Strait artist Alick Tipoti (1:30 pm) as he delves into the rituals behind the crocodile dance – before taking part in the free community dance workshop (2:30 pm) with Alick and his Dhamuw Koedal troupe.
