Moreton Bay galleries and museums
School holidays at the City of Moreton Bay galleries and museums are all about curiosity, creativity and hands-on fun. Across the break, families can dive into a lively program of exciting exhibitions and a range of interactive workshops that blend art, science and learning through play.
A highlight across the program is Imaginariums, a series of immersive, intergenerational activity spaces that invite curious minds to jump in, experiment and get creative. Free and open to all ages, these drop-in hubs can be explored during opening hours at Bribie Island Seaside Museum, Pine Rivers Heritage Museum and Redcliffe Museum. Elsewhere across the program, kids can build their own furry friend at the Soft Sculpture Creatures session at Redcliffe Art Gallery, step back into the 80s with Time Travel Thursdays: Retro Technology at Pine Rivers Heritage Museum, or get hands-on with shape, form and texture in the Constructing Abstraction workshop.
For the holidays, The Hub Gallery in Caboolture has been transformed into Pixel Printed Food Lab – a futuristic activation where kids of all ages can invent new foods and discover delicious glitches. Over at the Redcliffe Art Gallery, families can create artworks that reflect their own local experiences (and add them to a collaborative mural) at Summer at Redcliffe with Martin Edge. The Pine Rivers Heritage Museum is stepping back into the 80s with retro games, neon fashion and spinning vinyl at the Flashback Family Fun Day.
There’s plenty for grown-ups too. Alongside the holiday workshops, the galleries and museums are home to a diverse line-up of exhibitions exploring everything from vintage fashion and local art to Australian agriculture and marine conservation. Many exhibitions are paired with curated events for all ages, offering fresh ways to connect with the stories behind the displays.
