SXS Chamber Music Festival

The much-anticipated 21st edition of the SXS Chamber Music Festival returns this winter, promising a weekend of breathtaking music, exceptional artistry and hinterland charm at the spectacular Shambala Estate on Tamborine Mountain. From August 22–24, the lush surrounds of the Scenic Rim estate will set the scene as Southern Cross Soloists presents a star-studded nine-event program featuring 12 virtuosic musicians from Australia and around the world.

Curated by three-time Grammy-awarded musician Tim Munro, the 2025 edition of SXS Chamber Music Festival celebrates connection – between artist and audience, music and landscape, and sound and stillness. Across two days and three nights, the artists will perform more than 30 chamber music works from 25 composers. Each concert will last just one hour with no intervals, designed to immerse you in world-class musicianship without interruption.

The festival will unfold across three unique series – The Festival Welcome, The Chapel Series and The Galaxy Ballroom Mainstage Concerts. Moving through centuries and styles, the weekend-long program features performances from celebrated chamber musicians – including a candlelit moment from powerhouse pair Slava and Sharon Grigoryan, a captivating recital by luminous soprano Alexandra Flood and lieder pianist Sholto Kynoch, and a moving series of love songs without words by the acclaimed Orava Quartet. A roll-call of Queensland’s emerging musical talent will also feature in the Next Gen Recital.
