Fans of Baroque music will welcome the chance to experience Bach Akademie Australia’s Weddings & Parties Over Coffee performance when the five-city tour arrives in Brisbane for one night only.

Award-winning soprano Miriam Allan will perform alongside her father, acclaimed baritone Christopher Allan, together bringing the poignant works of J.S. Bach to life.

Originally from Newcastle, Miriam has achieved international acclaim, performing at venues such as New York’s Lincoln Center, Vienna’s Musikverein and London’s Barbican Centre. Closer to home, Christopher is a former senior lecturer and long-time musical director of the Newcastle University Choir.

Revel in renditions of the Wedding Cantata and the miniature opera, Coffee Cantata. The latter, narrated by composer and conductor Dan Walker, tells a comic tale of a disgruntled father and his coffee-obsessed daughter – a serendipitous fit for this father-daughter duo (despite the fact that Miriam doesn’t drink coffee at all).

Turning into quite the family affair, the Sinfonia in D minor by Bach’s eldest son, Wilhelm Friedemann Bach, will also be performed by the chamber orchestra during the season.

For an unforgettable night showcasing Bach’s brilliant cantatas, book your tickets here.
