Wolf, a powerful new work from boundary-pushing performing arts company Circa, will be clawing its way onto the Playhouse stage this November, unleashing an Australian premiere charged with raw intensity and daring physicality. Directed by Yaron Lifschitz, this bold new production reimagines circus as primal, electrifying and impossible to look away from.
The performance unfolds in two contrasting acts. At first, the ten artists embody lone wolves – disruptive, chaotic spirits. By the second act, they have transformed into a ferocious pack, moving with a synchronicity that is both disciplined and explosive. Lifschitz uses the wolf as a metaphor for our untamed selves – the part that resists conformity, craves freedom and thrives on instinct.
With the concept unleashed, the action comes thick and fast. Performers climb, tumble, balance and leap with breathtaking abandon, testing the limits of strength and control. DJ Ori Lichtik’s relentless beats thunder through the theatre, driving each act with a primal pulse, while designer Libby McDonnell’s sleek costumes frame every muscle and movement.
Wolf is an acrobatic thrill ride that captures the power of the pack and the freedom of the wild. From November 12–15, Brisbane audiences are invited to surrender to the rhythm and join the hunt. Intrigued? Secure your seats now via the QPAC website.
