Wonder Wagon, workshops and more: school holidays at Moreton Bay’s galleries, museums and libraries

Looking for ways to keep the family entertained and engaged during the September school holidays? City of Moreton Bay Spring School Holidays program has you well and truly covered, with a wide range of activities hosted by the libraries, galleries and museums within the city. 

Parents are spoiled for choice this year, with loads of affordable hands-on workshops and interactive sessions to choose from, for little ones up to teenagers. 

Wonder-filled Wednesday

Hosted at Caboolture Region Environmental Education Centre on Wednesday September 23 and Wednesday September 30, kids can join a real bush ranger in solving an outdoor mystery in the Walkie Talkie sessions. After solving the mystery, kids can stop by the Wonder Wagon to keep their creative juices flowing at a free clay workshop with Wonderkeeper’s artists Nadine Schmoll and Russell Solomon. 

Sessions run at 9:00 am, 10:00 am and 11:00 am, and bookings are essential for the Walkie Talkies. 

Creative space pop up at Caboolture Library 

For kids and teens looking for a creative escape, the Square Spot has popped up at Caboolture Library. Perfect for reading, creating with the free craft activities and chilling out, this safe space is the ideal retreat for primary school-aged kids and older along with their families. 

Art Teens at the Gallery

On Tuesday September 22, kids can learn printmaking in the Art Teens session and take home their very own unique art piece (bookings essential). Across the city’s libraries, galleries and museums, there’s a jam-packed calendar of fun workshops. From collage activities, badge-making, bracelet-weaving, clay, papermaking, sun printing, puppetry, bag-making and so much more, there are ample opportunities for teenagers to explore, play and get creative.
