Good news, northsiders – you needn’t trek into the CBD for your Scugnizzi fix. Two years after winning hearts (and taste buds) with its by-the-slice pizzas, primo pastas and street-style snacks in Adelaide Street, Scugnizzi has officially opened its doors at Westfield Chermside. Here’s everything you need to know …

Although the new Scugnizzi outpost may boast a smaller footprint than its CBD sibling, the kiosk-style venue at Westfield Chermside packs just as much punch. Designed for speedy service without sacrificing soul, the striking new space features the brand’s signature yellow and pink palette, radiating the same energy and warmth that has made Scugnizzi a cult favourite.

After fielding countless requests from hungry northsiders, founders Simone Presta and Carmine Guarino knew Chermside was the perfect next step. “As the busiest shopping centre in Queensland, Chermside gives us the chance to bring our signature dishes to Brisbane’s northside. Many of our regulars had been asking us to open outside the CBD, and we wanted to listen, making Scugnizzi easier to reach for more of our community,” says Simone.

The menu is a greatest-hits collection with a few exciting new riffs. Expect Scugnizzi’s famed pizza al taglio – those crunchy, square-cut Roman-style slices that started it all – alongside golden arancini and indulgent scoops of tiramisu. Exclusive to Chermside, diners can also tuck into pasta al forno, hearty bowls of oven-baked pasta that nod to traditional family Sunday lunches. Think lamb-ragu gnocchi, layered lasagna-inspired creations and a rotation of seasonal specials guaranteed to hit the comfort-food spot.

“It’s lasagna vibes, but with different shapes and toppings,” Simone says with a smile. “It’s a new comfort-food twist we’re excited to bring to Chermy.”

While this may be the first Scugnizzi outside the CBD, Simone and Carmine are already looking ahead. “From day one, the public embraced our concept of fast, authentic Italian food. The Scugnizzi concept was born to be replicated, and hopefully one day we will see Scugnizzi everywhere around Australia.” We hope so too.
