In early 2022, Melbourne cafe Good Measure created the Mont Blanc, kickstarting a viral coffee trend that the country has been rightly obsessed with ever since. The original Mont Blanc is a syrupy cold brew, topped with creamy cold foam and dusted with nutmeg and a little orange zest for an extra kick. Designed to be sipped slowly and without stirring for the ideal balance of energising cold brew and sweet frothiness, this perfect summer beverage is still gaining momentum four years on. Here’s where to snag a cup of this powerful brew across the Gold Coast.

Sun Devil Drinks Co, Tweed Heads
If you’re chasing one of the Gold Coast’s most talked-about Mont Blancs, you have to head across the border to Sun Devil in Tweed Heads. This is the Mont Blanc that ignites queues that are long but worth every minute – and honestly, part of the fun is watching the line move as friends trade cold-brew secrets. Sun Devil’s Pistachio Mont Blanc sits on a sea salt vanilla cold brew, crowned with thick, dreamy pistachio foam and generous shreds of chocolate. It’s rich, it’s delicious and it disappears fast, so show up early if you want to beat the sell-out crowd.

Tarte Tea Garden, Currumbin
Tucked among roses, lavender and dreamy dappled light, Tarte Tea Garden delivers one of the prettiest cafe experiences on the Gold Coast, and its cloud-topped drinks are as much a drawcard as the pastries. While it doesn’t offer a classic Mont Blanc in its purest form, the iced latte cloud and tiramisu cloud deliver a similar hit of creamy, whipped indulgence, layered over matcha, coffee or coconut water for a dessert-like finish. Pair one with a crueller, speciality tarte or warm scone and you’ve got a delightful afternoon combo.

Elk Espresso, Broadbeach
If you’re chasing a Mont Blanc-style moment with serious cafe pedigree behind it, Elk Espresso delivers in spades. The long-time Broadbeach favourite has taken its flair for inventive seasonal menus and extended it into drinks, with its vanilla cloud and tiramisu iced latte sitting firmly in dessert-in-a-glass territory. Expect layered cold brew or espresso, silky vanilla cloud, tiramisu syrup and chocolate shavings, finished with sponge finger for good measure. It’s indulgent, theatrical and expertly balanced, proving that at Elk, even your iced coffee gets the full creative treatment.

Old Quarter Coffee Merchants, Southport and Coolangatta
Old Quarter Coffee Merchants are doing things a little differently in an Asian-inspired take on the classic Mont Blanc. The Floating Hanoi is a fun twist on the iconic Vietnamese egg coffee and is built on a base of a naturally processed Catimor dry natural cold brew (a darker roast with rich berry and panella sweetness) grown by long-time friends and farming partners, Pat and Tam, in Langbiang, Vietnam. This is paired with muscovado and topped with a rich tiramisu-like foam infused with Old Quarter’s house-made orange cheong, and finished with grated dark chocolate and fresh orange zest.

Bear Boy Espresso, Helensvale
In a creative twist on the trendy classic, Helensvale’s favourite hole in the wall, Bear Boy Espresso swaps nutmeg and orange zest for pistachio in their Mont Blanc offering. Built on a house blend iced filter base, this summer sip is topped with a smooth and creamy pistachio cream foam and a crunchy pistachio crumble.

Public Supply, Tweed Heads
Alongside Sun Devil, Public Supply in Tweed Heads has become one of the region’s cult coffee destinations, with queues that practically warrant their own social media hashtag and cinnamon scrolls that are legendary for a very, very good reason. Its Mont Blanc-style creation lives up to the hype too – a velvety cold brew layered with clouds of creamy foam and finished with rich texture and flavour that make it feel more like dessert than a drink. Locals will tell you it’s worth the wait, worth the scroll and absolutely worth the drive.

Cafe Junie, Carrara
Hidden in Carrara’s industrial hub, Cafe Junie rewards anyone willing to go looking. Its viral Mont Blanc has quietly built a cult following, combining iced cold brew with silky vanilla cold foam, finished with dehydrated orange zest and a dusting of chocolate. Fragrant, lightly sweet and beautifully balanced, it’s the kind of drink that turns black-coffee purists into converts and makes the detour feel more than justified. Take a peek here.

Sunnyboy Espresso, Mermaid Beach
Sunnyboy Espresso channels the same inventive spirit as its sibling spot Elk Espresso, delivered with a relaxed, beachside sensibility. Its iced latte with brown sugar cloud is a summer standout, pairing smooth espresso with caramelised sweetness and soft, creamy foam for a drink that hits the sweet spot between indulgent and everyday. It’s the kind of order that suits sandy feet, salty hair and unhurried mornings by the sea.

Janus Deli, Surfers Paradise and Molendinar
Janus Deli has also jumped on the Mont Blanc trend much to its regulars’ appreciation. Following the traditional recipe of iced long black topped with vanilla cold foam and orange shavings, this cold brew concoction hits the sweet spot with its careful balance of flavours. Experience the fusion of smooth and creamy vanilla, spiced cold brew and subtle orange accents.

Vector Coffee, Southport
The Mont Blanc has quickly become the most popular drink on the menu at Vector Coffee. Using a light roasted filter coffee which is brewed hot and then rapidly chilled down, Vector’s Mont Blanc offers a more vibrant and sweet flavour than a standard cold brew, while staying true to the original recipe with black sugar syrup, cream, nutmeg and orange zest. We also hear that a blueberry twist on the original Mont Blanc will feature on the soon-to-be-launched signature drink menu.

First Fruits Coffee, Labrador
First Fruit’s Mont Blanc is built on a house-roasted cold brew and finished with vanilla cold foam, a lemon syrup house-made from fresh juice, and topped with shaved chocolate and a lemon sugar garnish made from the zesty peal. The final product is one of finely-tuned flavours that still feels coffee-forward rather than sickly sweet.
