When the temperature dips, nothing hits the spot quite like a belly-warming bowl of authentic Japanese ramen. From lively noodle bars to local favourites, we’ve uncovered the Gold Coast’s best ramen spots so you can get your slurp on.

Charcoal Ramen & Bar, Robina: Tucked behind Robina Town Centre, this bustling Japanese dining den (formerly Charcoal Charcoal Yakitori Bar) is home to some of the coast’s best ramen. The rich tonkotsu and house miso bowls are both topped with flame-seared pork chashu, while the clear vegetarian ramen delivers plenty of flavour. If you like things spicy, approach the house-made ‘hellfire’ chilli sauce with caution – it absolutely lives up to the name.

ZuroZuro Ramen Bar, Burleigh Heads: Pull up a seat at ZuroZuro Ramen Bar and slurp your way through chef Jun Furukawa’s flavour-packed creations. ZuroZuro’s creamy tantan charsiu ramen is a standout, layering rich pork broth with springy noodles and tender charsiu pork, while the original miso finished with butter keeps things deliciously simple. The venue is also known for its karaage, which stars in the curry ramen topped with crispy fried-chicken pieces.

Harahetta Ramen, Coolangatta: Harahetta Ramen in Coolangatta specialises in bold, flavour-packed bowls built on its signature rich, slow-cooked tonkotsu broth and a lighter, clear shio broth. Each bowl balances depth and comfort, with options for vegetarian, vegan and low-gluten diners. In true Tokyo style, there’s no bookings or takeaway – just roll on in.

Ramen Bro, Bundall: Ramen Bro is a must for ramen purists, serving a bold tonkotsu topped with roasted chashu pork. Prefer something lighter? The clear chicken chintan broth – finished with confit chicken chashu and smoked shoyu – offers a more delicate but equally satisfying option. There’s also a delicious vegan ramen built on a savoury Hokkaido kombu and shiitake broth.

Hanakyo, Nerang: With a sister venue in Osaka running strong for over 20 years, it’s safe to say your ramen is in good hands here. Expect rich, authentic pork tonkotsu and a chicken-broth option for those after a lighter flavour. For something a little unexpected, the curry ramen is a must – and best enjoyed with a side of rice to soak up every last drop.

Bobby Bangs, The Oxley Nobby Beach: By day, Bobby Bang’s draws crowds for its vibrant matcha drinks and Asian-inspired brunch plates like Korean fried-chicken Benny. But come Friday and Saturday nights, Bobby’s Ramen Shop takes over, serving everything from rich pork tonkotsu to spicy miso and Tokyo-style shoyu chicken ramen. For something a little different, the Korean brisket ramen pairs a gochujang-spiked pork broth with slow-cooked beef brisket.

Ramen Danbo, Surfers Paradise, Southport and Pimpama: With locations across the Gold Coast and in Brisbane, Ramen Danbo has built a loyal following for its Fukuoka-style tonkotsu ramen and customisable bowls. Diners can fine-tune everything from noodle firmness and broth richness to spice level and toppings, creating a bowl tailored exactly to their taste. The brand also made headlines with the launch of Australia’s first ramen drive-thru in Pimpama, serving up ramen bowls, sides, extra toppings and drinks without customers ever needing to leave the car.

Zipang, Currumbin: Tucked along Currumbin Creek Road, this hidden gem is a go-to for piping-hot ramen, as well as Japanese favourites like crispy gyoza and rice bowls. With five ramen options on the menu, every type of noodle lover is covered – there’s traditional tonkotsu made with a rich nine-hour pork bone broth, a semi-clear chicken shoyu, and a standout vegan ramen built on a nourishing broth of shiitake, kombu and ginger.

JFX Noodle and Tapas Bar, Southport: This is where you’ll find one of the most extensive ramen menus in the city. You can treat your taste buds to black tonkotsu, a classic Kyoto salt ramen with chicken, a fiery chilli-coriander ramen and even a wagyu-beef ramen. The hero here is the hearty Jiro-style ramen, which features an ultra-rich broth made with pork back fat and garlic, served with twice the noodles and piled high with your choice of vegetables.

Motto Motto, Robina Town Centre and Pacific Fair: Sitting alongside donburi, sandos and Japanese favourites on Motto Motto’s menu is a range of rich and delicious ramen options. There’s classic, black garlic and spicy red tonkotsu ramen on offer, served with either pork chasu or karaage chicken and traditional toppings. There’s also a plant-based ramen with a miso and vegetable broth, finished with vegan butter.

Muso Ramen, Mermaid Beach and Chirn Park: Muso has your ramen cravings covered at both ends of the coast, serving everything from traditional tonkotsu to spicy sesame tantan and Tokyo-style chicken soy. The broths are rich and comforting, paired with perfectly chewy noodles for a seriously slurp-worthy experience.

Goukai Ramen, Burleigh Heads: Goukai delivers a no-fuss, authentic Japanese ramen experience. Keep it original with the rich, creamy tonkotsu ramen, load up with extra pork chasu, or mix it up with the charred-garlic ramen. There’s also a chicken chashu ramen as a juicy alternative to tonkotstu, and a kid-friendly ramen further down the menu if you’ve got little ones in tow.

Goto Ramen, Southport: This new sibling to long-running Japanese restaurant Goto (which is located further up the road beneath Southport Central) has quickly earned a loyal following. The menu heroes authentic Hakata-style ramen topped with braised chashu pork and classic add-ons, alongside a fiery red-miso ramen and an umami-loaded black tonkotsu that’s big on depth and flavour.

Hakataya Ramen, Surfers Paradise and Pacific Fair: Hakataya pulls in devoted ramen fans with its silky tonkotsu broth, crafted from Australian pork bones and simmered low and slow using a secret recipe. The menu keeps things simple – grab a seat, order the bold Miso Spicy-Men and add kaedama (extra noodles) to keep the slurp going.

Izakaya Midori, Reedy Creek: This plant-powered Japanese joint shakes up tradition with its vibrant Midori Ramen – a bright-green vegan bowl that doesn’t skimp on depth or flavour – a must-try whether you’re a dedicated vegan or just ramen-curious. Or, opt for the spicy miso ‘butter’ ramen topped with corn and bamboo shoots.
