If you’ve ever admired a piece of art, checked the price tag then quietly backed away, Affordable Art Fair Brisbane is here to change that mindset. Returning to Brisbane Showgrounds for its third edition from May 7–10, the popular four-day fair invites locals to approach art collecting with curiosity and confidence, rather than caution.

Inside this year’s Affordable Art Fair, more than 55 galleries and hundreds of artists will come together in a vibrant, ever-changing showcase of painting, sculpture, photography and mixed media. With every work priced between $100 and $10,000, the fair opens the door to first-time buyers and seasoned collectors alike – and if something speaks to you, you can take it home then and there with the fair’s complimentary wrapping service.

For first-time buyers, there’s no need to know the ‘rules’. Gallerists are on hand to guide you through the process from start to finish, making the experience feel approachable, engaging and genuinely enjoyable. One of the organisers’ top tips is simple – ask questions. Whether it’s pricing, budgets and artist inspiration, or the practicalities of purchasing, framing and hanging, there’s plenty of support to help demystify the process and make buying art feel far less intimidating than you might expect.

The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming – so grab a drink, explore the artists that resonate with you and enjoy discovering your favourites. Though, if something catches your eye, don’t hesitate – pieces don’t stay on the walls for long.

More than 13,300 visitors attended the 2025 event, spending a record $3.3 million on art – and Affordable Art Fair director Georgia Huestis said she expects records to be set again when the event returns to Brisbane.

“The Fair is centred on ensuring there is art for all, and Affordable Art Fair is a place where people can connect with artists, talk to galleries and discover art they genuinely love in a welcoming, relaxed environment,” Georgia said.

As for what’s on the walls, expect a curated mix of returning favourites and new arrivals. Good Work Gallery will showcase multimedia pieces from artists including Morgana Celeste and Misha Harrison, while Mint Art House returns with its energetic stable, alongside Queensland artist Claudio Kirac, who is also curating and designing this year’s Children’s Art Studio. Aspire Gallery brings a collection of playful works under $1000, offering an easy entry point for new collectors, while The Toowoomba Gallery returns as a much-loved favourite.

A handful of new names will also join the line-up, including Rich & Strange with its striking oil paintings, and Artist Lane, which introduces a diverse roster including Indigenous artist Kamilya Lowana. The fair also continues its support of First Nations artists through its Access Partner program, with Artists of Ampilatwatja presenting works that reflect deep connections to Country, and Warlukurlangu Artists offering internationally recognised pieces at accessible price points – many under $500 for those starting out.

Beyond the gallery walls, there’s a packed program with plenty to see and do. Live painting will unfold across all four days, while a large-scale suspended mural by immersive artist Jason Parker is sure to grasp your attention on arrival.

With so much to explore, every aisle offers something new to discover, and food and drink are on hand when it’s time to take a break.
