Wellness culture is heading north in a very big way, with Fitness Cartel announcing plans for its first standalone Merse Wellness Spa, opening opposite Westfield Coomera this October. The new $2.5–$3 million purpose-built destination will combine hydrotherapy, hot-and-cold immersion, magnesium pools, recovery zones and reformer Pilates under one roof, positioning itself somewhere between a luxury bathhouse, recovery club and everyday wellness hub.
Designed to function more like an everyday wellness club than a once-a-year indulgence, Merse Wellness Spa Coomera is aiming to weave recovery, movement and relaxation into people’s regular routines. The 600 sqm space will house magnesium-infused wellness pools, hot-and-cold immersion experiences, steam rooms, traditional hot-rock saunas and dedicated recovery zones, alongside a reformer Pilates studio. At the centre of the concept is what Fitness Cartel describes as one of the country’s most advanced bathhouse filtration systems, with water refreshed every six to 15 minutes and infused with 500 kgs of magnesium designed to support recovery, relaxation and performance.
According to Fitness Cartel CEO Nathan James, the standalone venue represents a major evolution of the brand’s growing wellness offering. “We’re creating a hub where people can prioritise their health, recovery and wellbeing as part of everyday life, not just as an occasional luxury,” he said, pointing to growing demand for preventative health, longevity and recovery-focused experiences.
Set to open in October 2026 opposite Westfield Coomera, the new Merse Wellness Spa bathhouse destination is expected to cater for up to 700 members, with foundation memberships and early pre-sale offers launching ahead of opening.
