Paradise Resort Gold Coast has spent years perfecting the art of keeping kids entertained with an onsite waterpark, a Kids Club, carousel, games, activities and enough family fun to exhaust even the most energetic small human. Now, the grown-ups are getting something of their own with an adults-only pool and swim-up bar.
If your idea of relaxing poolside doesn’t involve dodging enthusiastic bomb dives or hearing “Marco!” “Polo!” on repeat for the better part of an hour, Paradise Resort Gold Coast has heard you. The famously family-friendly resort is carving out a little slice of paradise strictly for the grown-ups with Oh Shun Blu, a brand-new adults-only pool and bar precinct. Expect sun lounges instead of waterslides, cocktails from the swim-up bar and, hopefully, a lot less squealing.
Expected to welcome its first guests this Christmas, Oh Shun Blu will be reserved exclusively for resort guests aged 18 and over. At its heart will be a 25-metre heated swimming pool with built-in spa jets, landscaped surrounds and a swim-up bar pouring handcrafted cocktails and poolside refreshments.
In other words, while the kids are living their best lives, the adults can stretch out on a sun lounge, take a leisurely swim or enjoy the rare luxury of finishing a drink before somebody asks them for a snack.
For Paradise Resort Gold Coast general manager David Brook, the idea has been a long time coming. He first imagined creating a dedicated adults-only area more than 15 years ago, alongside the resort’s continued evolution into the family-focused destination it is today.
“We will always be a family resort. Kids are at the heart of Paradise and that will never change,” David says.
“Oh Shun Blu is about recognising that a great family holiday should have something for everyone.”
There’s more to the development than the pool. Twelve Deluxe Pool Access Rooms will offer direct access to the new adults-only precinct, while a second stage scheduled to open in early 2027 will add an indoor tapas and lounge bar.
The kids aren’t missing out, either. The wider redevelopment will introduce The Hub, a new dedicated home for the resort’s kids’ activities and workshops, an outdoor lawn for family movie nights under the stars and The Arena, a new indoor entertainment space near the Kids Club and games room.
There’s even a little Gold Coast history hidden in the name. Before becoming Paradise Resort Gold Coast in 2007, the property spent part of its life as Ocean Blue Resort, with Oh Shun Blu offering a playful nod to its former identity.
Oh Shun Blu is expected to open its first stage at Paradise Resort Gold Coast in Surfers Paradise this Christmas.
