Now open and bringing a bold hit of colour, flavour and fiesta to the northern Gold Coast, Kaktus Bar is the region’s newest destination for margaritas, mezcal and Mexican-inspired street eats. The vibrant venue blends earthy desert tones, live cacti and an open-air energy, creating the perfect backdrop for an agave-forward cocktail list crafted by bar manager Cameron Coull. Sip smoky mezcal creations, bright margarita riffs or build your own marg with adventurous salt rims (yes, even worm or grasshopper). In the kitchen, chefs Andrew Fraser and Rodrigo Baraona turn out flavour-packed share plates – think charred corn ribs, tequila-glazed chorizo, birria brisket tacos and tiger prawns al carbon. With DJs on weekends, curated playlists mid-week and a lively atmosphere built for grazing and good times, Kaktus is a spirited new addition to the Southport social scene. Open Wednesday to Sunday.
