First Nations artist Lisa Sorbie Martin will welcome HOTA’s next Children’s Gallery exhibition with her vibrant, immersive project Aka Sorbie: Saltwater Heart.
The exhibition draws on themes of culture, family and the ocean, brought to life through bold colour and intricate patterns in a sensory, hands-on experience that encourages curiosity and learning. Visitors can immerse themselves in Lisa’s underwater world of coral and fish, play cubby house in the island hut with fabric, and make art Aka Sorbie’s table.
Based on the Gold Coast for more than 40 years, Lisa Sorbie Martin is a cultural educator and creative innovator widely recognised for fostering community connection through storytelling and art-making.
