The SXS Chamber Music Festival returns to Tamborine Mountain this August for a weekend of chamber music, fresh air and mountain views. Set within the grounds of Shambala Estate, the three-day program showcases a series of intimate events in one of the Scenic Rim’s most picturesque pockets.
Now in its 22nd year, the boutique festival brings together a curated line-up of 14 world-class artists across a series of ten 60-minute performances, designed to be experienced as the weekend unfolds. Under the direction of three-time Grammy-winning artist Tim Munro, the 2026 program embraces the theme ‘safe in sound’, exploring ideas of family, connection and belonging.
Audiences will witness a mix of classical favourites and contemporary works, with performances featuring the likes of Sara Macliver (soprano), Australian Chamber Orchestra principal Timo-Veikko Valve (cello) and Aura Go (piano), alongside the acclaimed Lyrebird Trio – Glenn Christensen (violin), Simon Cobcroft (cello) and Angela Turner (piano). They’re joined by Southern Cross Soloists artist Ashley Smith (clarinet) and emerging talent from the SXS Next Gen Program.
Beyond the concerts, the festival experience extends across the estate with secret pop-up performances, relaxed jam sessions, sound-healing meditation and family-friendly moments woven throughout the program.
