As winter creeps in and golden hour hits a little earlier, Aviary Rooftop Bar in Southport is flipping the script on cold-weather hangs with Aviary Après – a sky-high soiree of toasted treats, spiked sips and fireside fun. Running from June to August, it’s the Gold Coast’s answer to an apres-ski (meaning ‘after ski’) session – no snow boots required.
From Wednesday through to Sunday from 4:00–6:00 pm, Aviary’s open-air bar area The Nest transforms into a cosy rooftop retreat, complete with crackling fire pits, soft blankets and panoramic views backlit by sunset skies. On Fridays and Saturdays, the vibe levels up with live music (weather permitting), making it the perfect place to wrap up the day – or kick off the night.
The Aviary Après pop-up experience also features a special fireside menu that’s all about winter indulgence – think gooey DIY s’mores kits, rich spiked hot chocolates, mulled wine steeped in aromatic winter spices, and a rotating cast of whisky and tequila for the slow sippers.
The prime fireside seats for Aviary Après are limited, so those chasing a full blanket-wrapped, marshmallow-roasting moment are encouraged to book early. The outdoor pop-up bar is also open to inside bookings, inviting all Aviary Rooftop guests to wander out, soak up the sunset and sip on limited-time Aviary Après-themed drinks.
