Butterboy has officially opened in Byron Bay – and for anyone who takes their cookies seriously, this is big news. The cult favourite has finally brought its NYC-style cookies, soft serve and viral cookie milk north, opening its first permanent location outside Sydney.

After years of long queues across its four Sydney locations and various pop-ups across the country, Butterboy has now planted a permanent flag on Jonson Street (just off the first round-about as you first drive into town). Fans of the iconic brand can indulge in Butterboy signatures like milk chocolate, snickerdoodle, double choc, and salted-caramel and macadamia, alongside its decadent vanilla soft-serves and cups of its famed iced cookie milk. The Byron store will also have special-release cookie flavours on rotation.

For the unfamiliar, Butterboy was founded by James Sideris, who began baking muffins and cookies from his home kitchen while studying at university, supplying local cafes on the side. When chunky, New York-style cookies started gaining traction, the focus shifted – and Butterboy was born.

The brand opened its first flagship store in Manly in 2022, quickly building a loyal following. Since then, Butterboy has scaled into a sizeable operation, with five stores and a growing list of cafes on its wholesale list.

Craving a Butterboy hit? The new Byron Bay store at 17-21 Jonson Street is open from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm daily.
