The Gold Coast isn’t short on places to grab a drink, but Somewhere Good is doing things a little differently.

Somewhere Good – a self-serve bar concept set to open in Surfers Paradise – is flipping the usual format on its head, handing the taps over to you. No waiting at the bar, no guessing what’s in your glass – just a preloaded card, a wall of taps and the freedom to pour exactly what you feel like.

The venue is the first of its kind for the Gold Coast, brought to life by Lili Eastwood and her team. While it marks their first foray into venue ownership, there’s already a strong foothold in the industry, with her business partner behind an established alcohol brand and Lili herself bringing a background in bartending, social media and hospitality.

So, how does it actually work? Guests will load money onto a card (think Timezone-style), tap in at their drink of choice and pour as much or as little as they like. The system charges by volume, so whether it’s a splash to taste or a full pour, you’re only paying for what ends up in your glass.

Across the venue, 30 taps will be on offer, spanning 21 beers, four wines and a line-up of pre-batched cocktails ready to flow. It’s designed to be flexible, interactive and just a little bit playful – a shift away from the traditional bar setup and towards something more hands-on.

As for the name, Somewhere Good leans into that easy, offhand answer to the question everyone asks before a night out. Where are you going? Somewhere good.

While final design details are still under wraps, the concept alone is enough to pique interest. If all goes to plan, Somewhere Good could mark the start of a new way to drink on the Gold Coast – one where you’re firmly in control of the pour.

Somewhere Good is set to open soon in Surfers Paradise. We’ll bring you a closer look when it’s ready to pour.
