Winter might have you dreaming of doona days, but the real magic happens fireside – wine in hand, something delicious on your plate and a crackling fire nearby. So you can really lean into the season, we’ve pulled together a list of cosy Gold Coast cafes and restaurants with a fireplace, perfect for warming up when the temps drop.

D’Arcy Arms, Surfers Paradise: Few places on the Gold Coast lean into winter quite like D’Arcy Arms. Every June, the long-running Irish pub lights its roaring open fireplace transforming the timber-lined space into a cosy refuge of Guinness, hearty roasts and crackling firewood for the rest of the season. There’s something deeply satisfying about settling in with a pint in hand while the smell of gravy and burning timber drifts through the room. If you’ve never experienced the venue’s famous Christmas in July celebrations, well, let’s just say you’re missing out. Book a table here.

Garden Kitchen & Bar, Broadbeach: If your idea of winter perfection involves a crackling fire, a glass of red and something snacky to graze on, Garden Kitchen & Bar at The Star Gold Coast has you sorted. The Broadbeach venue is once again rolling out its cosy Fire Pit Package, inviting guests to settle in beside a private fire pit for two hours with a curated charcuterie spread and a bottle of sparkling, shiraz, sauvignon blanc or mulled wine. Available Fridays from 4:00 pm and weekends from midday, it’s essentially the Gold Coast’s version of winter hibernation – just with significantly better snacks and table service. Make a booking here.

Robina Pavilion, Robina: This suburban favourite has officially brought back its much-loved lakeside fire pits for winter, inviting groups to settle in beside the water with crackling flames, wine in hand and two uninterrupted hours of cosy catch-ups. Set to launch oh-so-soon, the sessions will be running from Friday June 19 through to Sunday August 20, and includes complimentary marshmallows, exclusive food-and-drink specials and your own dedicated fire pit attendant. Sessions run Friday to Sunday across two evening sittings, with the $199 booking fee fully redeemable on food and beverages. Book your spot here.

Hotel Panchos, Mudgeeraba: Once the fireplace is lit at Hotel Panchos, a quick dinner suddenly feels highly unlikely. The long-running Mudgeeraba favourite becomes especially atmospheric through winter, with a glowing fire warming the sprawling dining room as plates piled high with nachos, sizzling fajitas and oversized margaritas make their way across crowded tables. There’s an unmistakable sense of occasion to a winter dinner here – lively, slightly chaotic and wonderfully comforting all at once. Book a table.

Sirromet Winery, Mount Cotton: Sirromet is once again leaning heavily into winter romance with the return of its fire-pit experiences, running weekends from May 30 through to August 30. Set amongst the winery grounds, the cosy outdoor sessions invite guests to settle in beside a private crackling fire pit with wine, grazing platters and blankets included. The more indulgent Signature Fire Pit Experience ($189 for two) comes with an antipasto spread of premium meats and artisan cheeses, mulled wine or a bottle of Seven Scenes wine to share, plus Sirromet picnic blankets and keepsake cups to take home. There’s also a lighter Fireside Grazing Experience ($119 for two), pairing wine and grazing snacks with the same fireside setup. Additional guests can be added to the Signature package, making it an easy option for winter catch-ups that feel far more atmospheric than your average dinner reservation. Book your spot here.

Pasture & Co, Currumbin: Tucked deep within the lush greenery of Currumbin Valley near The Ecovillage, Pasture & Co feels especially magical once winter rolls around. Misty mornings, towering trees and the smell of coffee drifting through the valley set the tone, while inside, the crackling fireplace turns the cafe into a warm little refuge from the chill outside. Between freshly baked country muffins, steaming lattes and the leafy surrounds wrapping around the space, it’s the sort of place that makes lingering over breakfast feel entirely justified.

Tweed River House, Murwillumbah: Set inside a beautifully restored century-old riverfront home, Tweed River House is made for long, slow winter lunches. The heritage building still carries all the character of its former life – polished timber floors, lofty ceilings, fireplaces and wide wraparound verandahs overlooking the Tweed River and hinterland beyond. During the cooler months, the afternoon sun spills beautifully across the terrace while heaters keep the riverside verandah comfortable for lunch service, though dinner shifts entirely indoors beside the crackling fireplace. There’s something deeply comforting about settling into one of the intimate dining rooms here with a glass of wine while the old Queenslander quietly creaks around you. Be sure to specify when booking if you want to be inside by the fire.

Verandah Restaurant and Bar, Sanctuary Cove: Hidden within InterContinental Sanctuary Cove, Verandah Restaurant & Bar is one of the Gold Coast’s more luxurious spots to settle in beside a proper fireplace with a glass of red or whisky in hand. The elegant lounge-style space pairs herringbone floors, French windows and sweeping resort views with a grand fireplace that becomes the heart of the venue through winter. Whether you’re stopping in for afternoon cocktails, a long lunch or a slow evening meal, the whole space feels designed for lingering once the temperatures dip.
