Last week, northern Gold Coast welcomed a newly renovated bistro and beer garden, with Runaway Bay Tavern completing the second and final stage of its awaited transformation. Complete with a generous expansion, a refreshed look and brand new spaces and facilities, the tavern now offers a sleek but casual local where guests can celebrate, dine and connect with ease. Let’s take a look inside …
The latest works on Runaway Bay Tavern have seen the space transformed since its reopening on Monday August 17, with a new bistro, beer garden and playground offering more spaces for locals to relax and play.
Drawing heavily on the character of its Queensland settings, the refurbishment has been designed for casual catch-ups, after-work drinks, family gatherings, live sport and midweek meals. Expanding into the former function room, the new bistro delivers a bright, welcoming and family-friendly space, featuring a new dual-sided bar, lush plants, bright colours and warm timber to reflect the coastal subtropic surrounds. The bistro is also now open to groups of all sizes as banquette seating and cosy dining pockets allow for events of all occasions.
Meanwhile, the new beer garden connects with the refreshed outdoor terrace dining area, providing casual seating and family-friendly dining that makes the most of Queensland outdoor living. The space offers seating under the partial fixed roof, umbrellas or in the open air, while the brand-new playground provides a dedicated space for younger guests to wander and play. The addition of 3.5-metre wide screen showing major sporting events live and loud all year-round allows even more reason to settle in and savour.
Abundant greenery, artwork which celebrates the local waterways and wildlife and a menu of classic pub favourites reflect the venue’s strong Queensland charm. A slew of weekly specials and events have been designed to give locals a reason to return throughout the week, including Kids Eat Free Mondays, $26 Steak Tuesdays, $29 Roast Sundays, and free all-day pool, kids entertainment, trivia and live music also taking place on select days.
With the final stage of refurbishments now complete, Runaway Bay Tavern offers a refreshed local getaway for the Northern Gold Coast and is open seven days a week.
