An $8 million open-air inspired upgrade is heading for Gold Coast’s Harbour Town

A Gold Coast shopping centre is about to get a whole lot greener with Harbour Town Premium Outlets announcing the upcoming $8 million transformation of its western mall precinct. Reflecting the future growth of the northern Gold Coast, the upgrade will prioritise customer comfort and deliver a vibrant open-air shopping environment ahead of the Christmas season.

The Gold Coast is preparing for significant population residential growth and visitation over the coming years with developments like Harbour Shores, the recent light rail announcement and the 2032 Olympic Games on the horizon. The latest upgrade to Harbour Town – which welcomes more than ten million annual visitors –  is focused on ensuring the centre continues to evolve as demand grows, refreshing the precinct all the way from the Tourism Lounge through to Kathmandu, as well as the west-to-east crossover mall leading towards Polo Ralph Lauren.

The retail, dining and lifestyle destination’s $8 million transformation has been designed in collaboration with award-winning architects and project teams RPS Consulting, Crest Project Management and Buchan. The design includes a more open-air environment, with upgraded ground surfaces and lighting, a new custom-built playground (designed with customer feedback in mind), new seating areas, lush landscaping, water features, enhanced shade and greenery, refreshed finishes, feature columns, and a potential new food and beverage kiosk location.

Harbour Town’s revitalisation kicked off this week, with works being rolled out in stages to minimise disruption, while stores remain open and accessible throughout.
