The PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Australia) recently launched its eighth edition with the inaugural Asia Connect: Brisbane event, which is expanding the programme’s reach into thriving, emerging markets such as Queensland. The launch follows the successful Asia Connect: Melbourne event held earlier in the month, underscoring the Awards’ commitment to celebrating excellence across the country’s diverse cities and property markets.

The eighth PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Australia) are part of the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards series, organised by PropertyGuru Group – Southeast Asia’s leading property technology company. Asia Connect: Brisbane featured attendees such as James Henderson, managing partner for business advisory and tax consulting in Brisbane at HLB Mann Judd; Shona Leppanen-Gibson, president of Australia Malaysia Business Council – Queensland; and Kiong Chan, CEO and principal trainer at Australian Leadership Skills Centre.

This year’s awards season will culminate in a prestigious black-tie gala and awards presentation, set for the first time in New South Wales at the prestigious Shangri-La Sydney in September 2025. All entries undergo a rigorous, transparent selection process conducted by an independent panel of expert judges. The judging process is supervised by the 2024 Network of the Year award winner HLB International Real Estate Group, with oversight by Josh Chye, partner and head of tax at HLB Mann Judd. Winners of the Australia awards may qualify to compete at the 20th PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Grand Final, held in Thailand in December 2025.

“We proudly launch our awards’ eighth edition amid Australia’s suburban growth, driven by demand for residences beyond city centres — especially from buyers undeterred by market shifts,” says Ivan Lam, chairperson of the judges, PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Australia) and executive director for international business at Charter Keck Cramer.

“With new categories this year, we honour developers who have agilely adapted to market shifts, delivering designs and master plans that meet the needs of diverse property seekers in Australia. With economic stability improving and pressures easing, we are optimistic about long-term investment in Australia’s property market. As more projects rise, we look forward to celebrating innovation and excellence that will define the future of Australian real estate, setting benchmarks for 2025 and beyond.”

Queensland continues to be one of Australia’s most attractive destinations in which to live, invest and work, according to insights from the independent consultancy Charter Keck Cramer. With lifestyle appeal and improving infrastructure, cities like Brisbane and the Gold Coast are seeing sustained demand from both domestic and international buyers.

The apartment markets in Brisbane and Gold Coast experienced a very strong year in 2024. Increasingly on the radar of foreign capital, Brisbane offers solid market fundamentals and rising property values – now surpassing even Melbourne – while Gold Coast benefits from structural shifts in living preferences among Australian property seekers and growing demand from Baby Boomers.

As the 2032 Olympics approach, both cities face construction pressures, yet continue to see strong demand from owner-occupiers, down-sizers and investors alike.

“With Australian real estate commanding global interest, we are thrilled to unveil our 2025 awards to showcase world-class projects to discerning property seekers throughout Asia Pacific. Alongside Melbourne and Sydney, Brisbane is a worthy addition to our event schedule this year, as Australia’s property market continues to diversify with impressive growth beyond traditional urban hubs,” says Jules Kay, general manager of PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards and Events. “We look forward to celebrating the ingenuity and innovation of developers from all key property destinations at our domestic and international galas later this year.”
