Unfortunately, Henry-Hicks wasn’t able to attend the Gala Awards Night last Thursday.

“Although I wish I could be there to celebrate in person, my nine-month-old baby had other ideas,” Henry-Hicks said in her acceptance video.

Lucy Henry-Hicks took on her role at the Gold Coast fashion label in 2020, and shifted DISSH’s focus from trend-driven decision-making. She ushered in the timeless minimalism, refined style, and commitment to sustainability, which the brand is globally known for today.

Henry-Hicks empowers women through a community-first approach to business and her dedication to making fashion a force for good.

Under Henry-Hick’s leadership, DISSH has introduced the practice of garment reuse and textile recycling. This ensures as few of their products end up in landfill as possible.

DISSH has implemented 16 weeks of full-pay parental leave, IVF and adoption-related support and superannuation contributions of up to 52 weeks for primary carers.

The brand has donated over $300,000 in clothing to women entering the workforce, $450,000 of funding for female-led paediatric research, and set up an annual $15,000 scholarship for LGBTQIA+ students in the creative industries.

The goal was never simply a successful fashion label, but to make meaningful contributions to society, especially Queensland.

The Inspiring Female Leaders Award recognises the outstanding female who leads, inspires and pushes the boundaries of the business community.

At its core, DISSH commits to female empowerment, an important mission that Lucy Henry-Hicks proudly leads.

It’s inspiring to be part of such an incredible and accomplished group of people shaping the future, and thank you to all the organisers for bringing us together to celebrate such an amazing night,” Henry-Hicks said.
