Deejay Egan grew up in the foster care system and left high school in Year 8. He says despite these obstacles, it helped him cultivate resilience, self-determination and a commitment to creating positive change.

In 2021, Egan founded DCC Industry Group, a human services organisation, with a vision to deliver compassionate and community-first support services through personalised support.

Egan said his team strives to empower individuals and communities, particularly Indigenous Australians, while guided by core values of respect, justice, equality, humility and courage.

In a few short years, DCC has grown into a national enterprise with more than 650 staff across Queensland and Western Australia.

The group provides multidisciplinary care in youth services, disability support, allied health and culturally safe labour hire.

Egan said DCC had expanded its services by integrating specialised divisions all working together to meet diverse community needs. These include homelessness, domestic and family violence and recruitment for social, healthcare and human services sectors.

He said his own experience across justice, child protection, homelessness, and disability services sectors had shaped DCC’s holistic and inclusive approach.

Egan’s long-standing commitment to social impact, entrepreneurial innovation, and transformative leadership made him standout as a 40 Under 40 candidate.

Piper Alderman partner Paul Venus presented the Inspiring Future Leaders Award, which recognises the vision and achievement of a leader.

The judges found that through strategic partnerships and community-driven programs, DCC was creating real, lasting change for countless Australians.
