Retail Food Group makes changes

Retail Food Group (RFG) recently announced the appointment of Abigail Cheadle as an independent non-executive director of the company and chair of the board’s audit and risk management committee.

Abigail Cheadle

Cheadle brings more than 30 years of experience as a chartered accountant across listed companies, government bodies and global professional services firms.

She has spent more than 20 years across Asia, Russia and the Middle East, restructuring listed companies and recapitalising financial institutions during the Asian Financial Crisis and rescheduling sovereign debt for the Former Soviet Union and Iraq.

Since returning to Australia, she has chaired two ASX-listed boards, eight audit and risk committees, and one remuneration and nomination committee for 10 ASX-listed companies, two large publicity firms and a government-owned corporation.

RFG Executive Chairman Peter George said Cheadle is a commercially minded chartered accountant and highly experienced public company director with a broad financial and commercial resume.

“During her career, Abigail has developed deep experience chairing both boards and key board subcommittees, especially in relation to audit and risk, and will assume the Chair of RFG’s Audit & Risk Management Committee, contemporaneously with her appointment taking effect,” George said.

Gary Brinkworth

The company also appointed Gary Brinkworth as a non-executive director. He brings CEO experience and familiarity across large-scale retail and property operations.

He most recently served as CEO and board director of Herron Todd White and has previously served as group executive officer of United Petroleum.

Brinkworth will also assume the roles of chairman of the United Petroleum ‘Group of Companies’ and executive director real estate for that group in early March 2026.

Peter George said Brinkworth brings a wealth of experience across senior corporate roles that complements the Board’s existing skillsets and expertise.

“I look forward to Gary’s future contribution to RFG and take pleasure in welcoming him to the Board,” George said.

Both directors will step into their new roles following the release of RFG’s 1H26 results later this week.

The board has also suspended its search for a new CEO in regard to new outlined initiatives, and has formalised an extension of Peter George’s employment as executive chairman.
