Collins Foods Limited, which manages KFC and Taco Bell outlets across Australia, has expanded its footprint in Germany and the Netherlands.

The Brisbane-based operator of KFC and Taco Bell in Australia, Collins Foods, has acquired eight KFC restaurants in Germany for $50 million, in a bid to further embed itself in Europe.
Collins Foods also expanded its German Development Agreements to target 45 to 90 new restaurants over the next four years.
Managing director and CEO Xavier Simonet said the expansion was driven by KFC’s strong brand awareness and consumer appeal in Germany.
“These restaurants will bring us immediate scale and importantly, create a strong foundation for accelerated development. The acquisition meets the financial hurdles that guide our investment decisions, with the network to be acquired operating at higher margins than our exisiting German restaurants,” Simonet said.
The agreement outlines key terms, including the acquisition of the eight restaurants for €31.1 million ($50 million AUD). Completion of the deal is expected to occur in May-June 2026.
The signing of the agreement represented a near 50 per cent increase in Collins Foods’ German restaurant portfolio.
Collins Foods now operates restaurants in Munich and the broader state of Bavaria, expanding its portfolio across North Rhine-Westphalia (including Cologne and Düsseldorf) and Baden-Württemberg (including Stuttgart).
The Company also refocused and extended its Corporate Franchise Agreement (CFA) for the Netherlands, signed with Yum! Brands.
“The updated Netherlands CFA brings out responsibilities into closer alignment with our other operating markets and will enable us to focus more sharply on improving sales and profitability across our network,” Simonet added.
Dhruv Kaul, managing director EMEA at KFC (Yum! Brands) said he was excited to extend the partnership with Collins Foods to the state of Bavaria.
“KFC sees immense opportunities in the German market where the brand is already very strong. Partnering with companies like Collins Foods, which has the financial and operational resources to accelerate the build-out of the German KFC network, is an essential part of our German growth strategy,” Kaul said.
These new acquisitions and expansions are consistent with Collins Foods’ previously announced strategy to establish Germany as its second strategic growth pillar.
In 2025, Collins Foods’ annual revenue was up 2.1 per cent from the previous year at $1.5 billion and net operating cash flow was up $5.1 million to $181.4 million.
Collins Foods operates 292 KFC and Taco Bell restaurants across Australia, 17 in Germany and 64 in the Netherlands, with a total of 393 worldwide, as outlined in the Company’s 2025 annual report.
