One of the country’s largest private shipyards has purchased a fellow Queensland-based company with eight decades of marine services experience.
The Yard Brisbane has acquired Todkill Marine Services in a partnership merging modern infrastructure and high-quality support services.

Shipyard operator The Yard Brisbane has acquired the business of marine services company Todkill Marine Services (TMS), in a partnership the new owner hoped would merge modern infrastructure with high-quality support services.
JMD Park Pty Ltd, operating as The Yard Brisbane, is located on the Brisbane River less than 2km from the port of Brisbane and is one of Australia’s largest shipyards.
TMS began as a marine contracting and diving business called N Todkill and Sons in 1946, founded by Neil Todkin. Now, TMS specialises in heavy civil marine construction and commercial wharf maintenance and is run by Neil Todkin’s son Phillip Todkill, who has more than 40 years of marine experience.
The acquisition would improve marine infrastructure maintenance and services across the Brisbane region through increased capacity, improved delivery and enhanced technical support, The Yard Brisbane CEO Julie Cook said.
“Todkill Marine Services brings deep technical expertise and a strong reputation for doing the job right the first time,” Cook said.
“Their marine services and infrastructure expertise and strong client relationships complement our shipyard and project capability.”
She said the acquisition, effective immediately, would deliver greater value and reliability to waterfront property and marine infrastructure owners as well as vessel owners and operators.
Todkill Marine Services’ owner Phillip Todkill said he had grown the business from a small family business to one of SEQ’s top marine services specialists, contracting to councils and the country’s top ASX-listed companies.
“Quality has always been at the core of Todkill Marine Services,” Todkill said.
“The venture will enable us to grow our workforce and capability with the on-site resources of The Yard Brisbane.”
He said strengthened safety and quality systems would allow for more integrated solutions in the future.
