A national recall has been issued for a favourite Cadbury chocolate treat amid warnings it should not be eaten.

Food Standards Australia New Zealand said Cadbury Australia had issued the recall for its 10-piece share bags of Marvellous Creations Jelly Popping Candy Beanies.

The alarm is due to “the presence of foreign matter” and there are fears the chocolate is contaminated with plastic.

“Food products containing plastic may cause illness/injury if consumed,” FSANZ said in Tuesday’s recall notice.

The 160-gram share bags have been sold at Coles, Woolworths, Drakes, The Reject Shop, IGA and independent retailers across Australia. The affected packages have a best-before date of May 21, 2026.

“Consumers should not eat this product. Consumers should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund,” FSANZ said.

“Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.”
