A 21-year-old woman has died after she was struck by lighting at a Sunshine Coast sports ground on Thursday – with more storms forecast.

A 21-year-old woman has died after she was struck by lightning on the Sunshine Coast Thursday.
Queensland Ambulance confirmed multiple units were sent to the Cooroy Sporting Complex, near Noosa, at 5.14pm.
A spokesman told InDaily the vehicles were sent to the scene, where they treated a woman with “life threatening” injuries.
The woman was then rushed to Nambour Hospital, where she later died. No one else was treated, the spokesman said.
In a statement posted to social media, the Cooroora United Football Club that is based at the complex said an “unexpected incident” had occurred at the grounds.
“Out of privacy for those directly impacted, it is not yet appropriate to share details of the incident, though it is important to share that those in and around the grounds, including both members and emergency services, showed admirable action, respect and care for each other,” it said.
The statement also urged members to “remain respectful online, avoid any unhelpful speculation, and check-in with one another”.
“Lastly, we ask for patience while the club and community navigate this and ensure we are maintaining a supportive environment to those who need it.”
Police confirmed the incident on Friday. A report will now be prepared for the coroner.
Meanwhile, there are fresh warnings of more storms over the weekend.
The Bureau of Meteorology is warning of damaging winds, heavy rainfall and potential hail for the Gold Coast and Greater Brisbane.
This comes as the bureau’s website weathers a storm of complaints about its revamped website after residents reported feeling unprepared during recent storms.
The bureau launched its controversial website on October 22, prompting Nationals Leader David Littleproud to criticise it as difficult to navigate and missing key tools relied on by farmers and rural communities.
