Tactical operations police have swooped on two cars in a dramatic operation in Liverpool in Sydney’s south-west.
“Tactical operations police responded to information received that a violent act was possibly being planned,” NSW Police said.
“Police subsequently intercepted two cars as part of the investigation.”
Multiple reports say one car was rammed before heavily armed and camouflaged police pulled a group of men from the vehicle.
They are believed to have travelled from Victoria and were on their way to Bondi.
However, police said they had “not identified any connection to the Bondi terror attack investigation” yet.
Seven men are assisting police with their inquiries.
Meanwhile, Bondi Beach has reopened to the public after the crime scene was lifted four days after Sunday’s massacre that killed 15.
The scene had covered Archer Park and surrounding areas.
NSW police said they had conducted an extensive examination and analysis of the site, which had reopened to the public. They thanked the community for their patience during the initial days of the investigation.
On Friday morning, crowds gathered at Bondi Beach for a paddle out to honour the victims of Sunday’s attack.
Bondi surf lifesavers are also encouraging colleagues across the country to join shoulder-to-shoulder at the start of their patrols on Saturday for three minutes of silence.
Those injured in Sunday’s attack continue to be discharged from Sydney hospitals, with 15 still receiving care.
One person remains in a critical condition and four are listed by NSW Health as critical but stable.
