City of Gold Coast CEO resigns

Chief Executive Officer Tim Baker announced in July that he would not renew his contract as City of Gold Coast CEO, and would conclude his tenure in December 2026.

Mayor Tom Tate thanked Baker for his service in the role since 2021.

“Tim has led one of Australia’s largest local governments through a period of significant change,” Tate said.

“Under his leadership, the City strengthened its long-term financial sustainability, modernised its operating model, delivered major infrastructure and service improvements, enhanced organisational capability and positioned itself to meet the opportunities and challenges associated with the Gold Coast’s continued growth and the lead-up to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.”

Baker said serving as CEO of the City of Gold Coast was a privilege.

“My focus for the remainder of my tenure will be on supporting Council’s priorities, continuing to lead the organisation and ensuring a smooth transition to new leadership,” he said.

Mayor Tom Tate said the Council would focus on ensuring continuity for the organisation over the coming months as it undertakes the process of appointing the City’s next CEO.

An Acting CEO would be appointed while Baker takes a period of leave before his tenure concludes in December.
