Amazon Australia has unveiled plans to bankroll a new robotics fulfilment centre expected to be the largest warehouse ever built in Queensland in a $750 million investment.

Queensland’s first Amazon Robotics fulfilment centre was expected to be built in Logan by the end of 2028 with promises it will create more than 1000 local jobs once fully operational, with construction and fit out creating an additional 2000 jobs.
Work has already started at the state-of-the-art facility in North Maclean that would be equipped with the latest Amazon technology and be more than 150,000sqm across four levels – almost double the size of Suncorp Stadium, making it one of the largest warehouses ever built in Queensland.
In an announcement today, the company said it was expected to be built by the end of 2028, and when operating capacity, the centre could process more than 125 million packages per year and the capacity to house up to 15 million smaller items sold on Amazon.
The site was expected to bring a diverse range of job opportunities across engineering, IT, HR and entry level roles in a high-tech, industry leading workplace.
Amazon Australia’s Operations Director Wayne Angus said the opportunity to continue investing in Queensland while creating more jobs was a source of pride for the company.
“People are at the heart of our operations, and by combining innovative robotics technology with skilled local talent in this state-of-the-art site, we’re building a workplace where people and technology work hand in hand to deliver for our customers,” Angus says.
He added that this investment demonstrated Amazon’s commitment to Queensland customers and confidence in the state’s growing economy.
“We are grateful to the Queensland Government’s support in making this investment possible, and advocating for an innovating industry.”
This will be Amazon’s second fulfilment centre in Queensland, with the other located in Lytton, alongside logistics sites in Heathwood and Arundel (Gold Coast).
Amazon has more than 300 robotic fulfilment centres around the world.
“This Amazon investment is proof of what happens when a government chooses to back industry and this is exactly the kind of economic momentum Queensland deserves and that the Crisafulli Government is proud to back,” Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie says.
Construction of the centre has started at Charter’s Hall’s Flagstone Logistics Estate, a 10-hectare site in the city of Logan with access to the Mount Lindesay Highway.
Logan Mayor Jon Raven said Logan is the perfect place for Amazon Australia to invest as the country’s youngest and fastest growing city.
“Projects like this robotic fulfilment centre bring new opportunities and help create the kind of careers our young people should not have to leave the city to find,” Raven says.
