A tightening of the oil blockade has brought the island to its knees.

Now US President Donald Trump says he wants the “honour” of “taking Cuba”, and his Secretary of State Marco Rubio says Cuba cannot fix its economy without changing its system of government.

In Havana, officials say they are preparing for the unlikely possibility of a US attack.
