Supercars success story takes out major award
Queensland-based company PWR has been honoured for its long-term contribution to the Australian economy.
Queensland business PWR Advanced Cooling Technology is one of five businesses inducted into the Australian Export Hall of Fame; the country’s longest-running export awards program.
The Hall of Fame recognises exporters who have won the same or similar national category in three separate years or five times across all categories.
PWR Advanced Cooling Technology began as an aluminium radiator manufacturer for race cars in 1997 when founder and chairman Kees Weel noticed Australian supercar teams were importing radiators from overseas before modifying them to fit their cars.
Since then, PWR has grown into a global manufacturer of advanced cooling technology for motorsport, aerospace and defence, with its technology reaching elite Formula 1 teams.
The company’s market has also expanded to the United Kingdom, United States, Italy, Germany, France, Canada and Japan.

In 2025, PWR won the Queensland Exporter of the Year Award and was the winner of the Australian Export Award for Manufacturing and Advanced Materials.
The company also won the Small to Medium Manufacturer Award category in both 2011 and 2012, taking out the Australian Exporter of the Year in 2012.
Weel said being inducted into the Hall of Fame was “a tremendous honour and recognition of the innovation, commitment and perseverance of the entire PWR team”.
“The Awards have helped elevate our profile globally, supporting our growth as an Australian manufacturer competing successfully on the world stage.”

Other Australian businesses inducted into the Hall of Fame included Almondco Australia (SA), Resmed (NSW), SunRice Group (NSW) and UOW Global Enterprises (NSW).
The new inductees span agriculture, advanced manufacturing, health technology, food and education, demonstrating the breadth of Australian capability succeeding in markets around the world.
Australian Trade and Investment Commission Deputy CEO Dan Boyer said the inductees reflected the ambition and ingenuity that had made Australian businesses globally competitive.
“These organisations represent the very best of Australian exporting — demonstrating sustained excellence, innovation and global ambition over many years,” Boyer said.
“Through their long-standing relationships with Austrade and our shared commitment to growing Australia’s presence in international markets, they have made an enduring contribution to Australia’s export community, economy and reputation on the world stage.”
The five inductees will be formally welcomed into the Hall of Fame at the 64th annual Australian Export Awards in Canberra on Wednesday November 18.
The Hall of Fame was established by Austrade in 2002 to recognise Australian exporters who have won the same or similar national category in 3 seperate years or five times across all categories.
