Police have released CCTV footage of a man accused of stealing $4000 worth of fuel at a service station in Queensland.

The man, who was driving a white Western Star prime mover, pulled up at the bowsers at a service station on Cunningham Highway in Sladevale, in the Southern Downs region, shortly after 3pm on October 10.

Queensland Police said he allegedly filled the truck with around 1462 litres of fuel before driving off without paying

“The truck was displaying no registration plates and was last seen travelling in an unknown direction,” they added.

Anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV footage or images is asked to contact Queensland Police or CrimeStoppers.

Service stations across the country have reported a rise in fuel theft since the war in Iran began driving up prices.

Fuel prices increased by 9.4 per cent in September on the back of rising world oil prices, and have surged by 23.6 per cent over the past year.
