As the weather cools, there’s a new reason to head for the hills, with the Samford & Hinterland Arts Trail returning this June.

Running across four weekends from June 6–28, the popular self-guided trail invites art lovers, collectors and curious explorers to experience the region’s creativity up close. Spanning Samford Valley and surrounds, including Dayboro, Eatons Hill and Bunya, this year’s program brings together 73 artists across more than 30 venues, turning the hinterland into a sprawling, open-door gallery.

Part scenic drive, part studio crawl, the trail offers a rare opportunity to step inside working studios and meet the artists behind the pieces. From painting and ceramics to sculpture, jewellery, textiles and mixed media, the breadth of work on show reflects the diversity of the local creative community. Think less polished gallery walls and more artist connection – you’ll hear the stories, see works in progress and gain insight into each artist’s process.

The 2026 program leans into hands-on experiences, with a series of workshops designed to get visitors involved. There’s felt pot making, solarplate etching, beginner watercolour sessions, paint-and-sip classes and even miniature terrarium building. Live demonstrations and artist talks will also feature across the weekends, offering a deeper look at the techniques and ideas shaping the work.

Cindy Werchon, trails organiser for Creative Samford, is gearing up for the biggest year yet.

“We have a huge range of artists that the public will enjoy, and it’s a wonderful opportunity to meet local creatives, explore studios and discover the incredible artistic talent within our region,” Cindy said.

A new addition for 2026 is a central hub in the heart of Samford, bringing together 20 artists in one convenient location at Samford Community Church Shed (44 Mt Glorious Rd). With daily demonstrations and a coffee van on site, it’s an easy starting point for those mapping out their trail – or a welcome pit stop between venues.

With venues open from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm each day, the Samford & Hinterland Arts Trail invites southeast Queensland locals to slow down, explore and support creatives, all while taking in some of the region’s most picturesque pockets.
