Step inside a true Brisbane icon and experience Shingle Inn from a new perspective.

As part of Brisbane Open House, the Shingle Inn will be celebrating 90 years by opening it doors early for an intimate morning of storytelling and bakery goods.

Guests will be welcomed with a private presentation from one of Shingle Inn’s owners, sharing the story behind the brand and its enduring connection to Brisbane since 1936. From its original beginnings in the city to becoming a much-loved part of the wider community, Shingle Inn has grown alongside Brisbane, shaped by the people, moments and flavours of each era.

From the early days, when American World War II soldiers inspired favourites like lemon meringue pie and traditional waffles, through to today’s modern flavour influences like Dubai chocolate and red velvet, the Shingle Inn menu tells a story of tradition and evolution.

Choose from a range of cake flavours, brought back from our bakery archives for the first time in years. From gourmet patty cakes to much-loved tortes, cheesecakes and classic butter cakes from decades past, exclusively for Brisbane Open House guests.

This is a rare opportunity to slow down, take a seat and experience the flavours and stories that have helped shape Brisbane, one slice at a time.
