There’s a lot happening in Brisbane these days, almost too much to keep up with. The Dish is a rapid-fire rundown of Brisbane food news – quick taster-sized tidbits to keep you in the know and, perhaps, tickle your taste buds.
Rise Riviera
Launching Sunday May 3 at Rise Le Restaurant, this European Riviera-inspired day party transforms Brisbane’s riverside into a Saint-Tropez-style social affair, blending champagne, music and relaxed grazing in a fluid, high-energy format. Expect seafood towers, oysters and caviar alongside a rosé- and champagne-led drinks list featuring Veuve Clicquot, Moët & Chandon and Minuty, while Libre Sound delivers a sunset house soundtrack complemented by a roaming live saxophonist as the atmosphere builds into golden hour. With $10 tickets including a glass of bubbles on arrival and additional food and drinks available, the event marks the debut of an ongoing series set to evolve Rise’s signature mix of music, movement and riverside indulgence. Spritz Party at Bar Miette
Bar Miette is hosting a riverside Spritz Party with Saison Aperitifs on Sunday 3 May from 3:00 pm, with founder Dave Verheul – chef and bitter drinks maker behind Melbourne’s cult favourite Embla – taking over the bar. Founded in early 2020, Saison is a Melbourne-based aperitivo company built on the belief that vermouth and amaro can be brighter, fresher, and more expressive, capturing peak seasonal moments in every bottle. Each aperitivo begins with a single ingredient at its height, layered with hand-picked wild herbs, fruit, flowers, and Australian-grown wormwood, all harvested and prepared by hand with no essences or shortcuts. It’s a slower, more obsessive approach to crafting aperitivo, and Dave will be pouring Saison spritzes all afternoon, soundtracked by DJ Dingo Balearico, alongside a special menu. Figtree Social After Dark
From Thursday through to Saturday, beloved Yeerongpilly cafe, Figtree Social, is debuting a cozy, evening dining experience boasting high-quality food and a “distinctly local” vibe. After Dark will transform the venue – widely loved for its focus on community and quality – into an intimate low-lit dining space from 5:00–8:30 pm. The menu will pair signature dishes such as potato pave and Bass Strait beef rib, with a curated, Australian wine list to seamlessly complement the kitchen’s offerings. “After Dark is about creating a dining space that feels warm and inviting… while delivering food that’s crafted with genuine care and premium ingredients,” says co-owner Tze-Huei Choo. “We want guests to enjoy high-quality food and wine in a setting that’s welcoming, relaxed and distinctly local.”
