Enjoy some rugged-up revelry with the return of Veuve Clicquot’s Winter Chalet at Customs House

This month, one of our favourite yearly pop-ups will make its return to the River City, giving locals a scenic spot to enjoy some fireside feasting. The Veuve Clicquot Winter Chalet is coming back to Customs House on Tuesday May 13, with a bigger and better offering featuring everything from free-flowing champagne and Moreton Bay bug croissants to winter-themed high teas and luxe igloos.

Winter is nearly upon us, which means that the Veuve Clicquot Winter Chalet is set to make its anticipated return to Brisbane. From next Tuesday, the riverside terrace at Customs House will become home to a number of luxuriously appointed alpine-themed igloos, all of which have been flown in direct from Europe. Each dome will offer guests the chance to escape from the winter chill and enjoy some effervescent champagne from Veuve Clicquot, as well as a seasonal menu reminiscent of apres-ski appetisers.

The snacks and nibbles menu leads with the now-iconic Moreton Bay bug croissant with lime and dill mayo, which is joined by delicious morsels including Abrolhos Island scallops, jamon croquettes, burrata arancini and Yarra Valley baked whole brie. In addition to Veuve, the Winter Chalet’s drinks menu will feature Australian, New Zealand and French wines, as well as a clutch of crafted cocktails like the Clicquot Sidecar – made with Hennessy VS, Grand Marnier and lemon, topped off with Veuve Clicquot.

While walk-ins are always welcome at Veuve Clicquot Winter Chalet, those looking to guarantee space in one of the cosy igloos are encouraged to book in for a luxe winter experience or a Dining in the Domes package. The latter is a newly introduced experience featuring a multi-course feast available Tuesday to Thursday for $160 per person. The menu includes wood-smoked buffalo mozzarella, Abrolhos Island scallops with custard apple and yuzu, 2GR Full Blood wagyu flank steak, hand-rolled gnocchi, and a caramelised pear and almond tarte tatin to finish. For something a bit more classic, the Clicquot Chalet Winter High Tea is back this year – featuring a drool-worthy selection of savoury canapes, freshly baked scones, an array of petit fours, French tea or coffee, and plenty of Veuve Clicquot champagne.
