Location revealed – Death & Co is opening its Brisbane outpost under the Regatta Hotel in Toowong
Heard the news? Acclaimed US cocktail bar Death & Co. is set to open its first Brisbane venue this summer. The bar will take over the former Walrus Club space beneath the Regatta Hotel in Toowong, bringing its world-renowned drinks list and exacting service style to the city.
Earlier this year, we shared word that world-renowned cocktail bar Death & Co was expanding to Australia, opening two outposts in collaboration with hospitality juggernaut Australian Venue Co.
The craft-cocktail specialist is a big name on the global bar scene, famed for its popular haunts in New York City, Los Angeles, Denver and Washington D.C.. In the coming months, Melbourne and Brisbane will be added to that illustrious list of cities.
Death & Co has already announced that its Melbourne bar will open on Flinders Lane in November, with Brisbane’s flagship to follow later this summer. While Death & Co Brisbane’s exact opening date is being kept under wraps, we can reveal that the bar is currently taking shape underneath the Regatta Hotel in Toowong, in the space previously occupied by subterranean speakeasy The Walrus Club.

In order to ensure that Death & Co.’s exacting standards and service philosophy will be faithfully maintained at across its southern hemisphere expansion, newly recruited venue and bar managers recently underwent extensive training in the United States.
Once the bar is open, this crack team of cocktail experts will shake, swizzle and serve Death & Co’s iconic signatures, including the Naked & Famous (Del Maguey Vida mezcal, Chartreuse, Aperol and lime), the Oaxacan Old Fashioned (El Jimador Reposado, Del Maguey Vida mezcal, agave syrup, Angostura Bitters) and a clutch of new, locally inspired menu additions.
