From news of a new cafe from the Felix for Goodness team to O Bagel South Bank’s opening date, The Weekend Edition is always on the search for the latest food news in Brisbane, dedicated to ensuring its readers are in the know. When we put our ears to the pavement this week, this is what we found out …
Riffe for Goodness
The team behind one of the inner-city’s best coffee spots is making moves, with plans underway on an exciting expansion. Beloved Burnett Lane brunch spot Felix for Goodness will soon lift the lid on a sister location over in Teneriffe, with Riffe for Goodness set to open to the public in January. Looking to create another space where people can enjoy great coffee, delicious eats and foster real connections with fellow locals, the Riffe for Goodness will channel the approachable warmth of its sibling while also maintaining its high standards. In addition to coffee from Toby’s Estate, Teneriffe locals can expect a menu loaded with Felix’s signatures, including its falafel bowls, phenomenal frittatas and chilli scram, plus plenty of gluten-free and vegan-friendly options. We’ll have more for you early next year!

O Bagel South Bank
A few months back, we shared word that Gold Coast-born bagel and coffee slinger O Bagel was opening a brand-new location in South Bank. Well, now we can reveal exactly where and when O Bagel will be opening. The new dispensary will open to the public at 7 :30 am on New Year’s Day, kicking of 2026 on a brilliant note. Situated at 153 Stanley Street, just near The Collective Market, O Bagel South Bank will be perfectly positioned to capture the taste buds of early morning riverside walkers, midday lunch seekers and weekend wanderers. Pop in early to have your pick of the menu, which will be stacked with signatures like the G’Morning (a brekkie bagel loaded with egg, bacon, hash brown, cheddar cheese, relish and house-made aioli), the Classy Lox (house-cured salmon, soft-herb cream cheese, red onion and capers) and the Drop the Beef (slow-cooked barbecue brisket and house-made barbecue sauce).

Allpress Espresso
Last week, we broke the news that globally renowned New Zealand-born roaster Allpress Espresso will strengthen its Brisbane footprint in January with the opening of a new coffee bar at 161 Robertson Street in Fortitude Valley, taking over the former Jamie’s Espresso site. Designed as a streamlined, espresso-bar-style venue focused on fast, high-quality service and connection, the space will be reimagined by Foolscap Studio and Lowry Group with a contemporary, refined aesthetic featuring timber, polished concrete, earthy tones and sustainable materials, including repurposed coffee chaff. The cafe will serve Allpress’s full blend range led by its signature espresso, rotating single origins on espresso and filter, cold brew via a Freepour Batch tap system, and a concise food offering of Sprout Artisan Bakery pastries, sandwiches and affogatos made with Rosé Gelateria gelato, alongside a retail selection of take-home beans and locally made ceramics. The roaster is targeting a late-January opening, as Allpress continues operating its East Brisbane site as an espresso bar and wholesale hub.

Larry Bakery
Hospitality veterans Tally Argent, Laura Downton and Tyrah Brickwood are combining their extensive experience to launch Larry Bakery, a cafe-bakery hybrid opening in Buderim on the Sunshine Coast next February. Drawn to the region’s growing food scene, the trio – who first teamed up doing bake-sale pop-ups while working together at The Bread Social – are transforming three adjoining Main Street tenancies into a 40-seat space blending modern and rustic design, with yellow tiles and stainless steel accents. Inspired by classic Australian bakeries, Larry Bakery aims to be a welcoming, community-focused meeting place offering high-quality yet unfussy fare, with Tyrah leading a pastry-heavy menu of croissants, doughnuts, cakes and tarts, while Tally and Laura handle a full breakfast offering alongside pies, sausage rolls and focaccia-based sandwiches, all complemented by Sunshine Social coffee and a vision to attract both locals and destination diners.
