Though Eagle Street Pier has been shut for years in preparation for the $2.5-billion Waterfront Brisbane precinct that is currently underway, the legacy of its lauded restaurants lives on the memories – and stomachs – of Brisbane locals. Now, for the first time since 2022, fans can once again taste the pier’s signature dishes thanks to a free digital recipe book honouring Eagle Street’s rich culinary heritage. Here’s what we know …
Last week, a free digital recipe book celebrating the culinary history of Eagle Street Pier launched, giving Brisbane the chance to recreate some of the precinct’s most-loved dishes at home. Launched by asset group Dexus, Pier to Plate brings together Eagle Steet Pier’s signature dishes – and some future classics – in a curated collection that taps into the nostalgia of the celebrated dining precinct as it undergoes its transformation into Waterfront Brisbane.
Throughout the pages of Pier to Plate, readers can find highly sought-after recipes from former Eagle Street Pier institutions, including Il Centro’s renowned sand crab lasagne, Matt Moran’s duck and pea pie from Aria, and Barouti from George’s Paragon. The recipe book will also feature a few signature offerings from the precinct’s newest venues, including Naldham House and The Fifty Six.
Matt Beasley, Dexus’ Waterfront Brisbane project director said Eagle Street Pier was one of Brisbane’s most iconic dining destinations for more than three decades. “Some of Australia’s most respected chefs have contributed to Pier to Plate, sharing both their fond memories of Eagle Street Pier and their excitement for what’s to come when Waterfront Brisbane opens in 2028.” He adds that Pier to Plate celebrates precinct’s shared history with the community while offering a glimpse into the precincts vibrant future.
Evoking memories of special occasions from years gone by, Pier to Plate is Dexus group’s way of honouring the site’s legacy while delivering Waterfront Brisbane, a world-class destination that will soon become synonymous with exceptional dining again. The book’s launch also coincides with the reopening of the new 250 metre Riverwalk.
Pier to Plate is now available for download via the Waterfront Brisbane app or by scanning the QR codes located on the Waterfront Brisbane project hoardings along the riverfront.
