Love the idea of soundtracking your next night out? W Brisbane is giving melophiles the chance to do just that at its newly minted private listening lounge. Curate your own vinyl playlist, call for a drink with a ‘Press for Martini’ button and kick back with a snack menu of late-night soul food. Sound like your kind of party? Read on for more …

Going analogue is a massive trend in music right now, with listening bars, vinyl records and old-school sound systems enjoying a resurgence in popularity around the world. W Brisbane is encouraging guests to set their own tone and enjoy a night of audio bliss inside its bespoke new private vinyl lounge.

Described as equal parts design playground and sonic escape, the lounge (equipped with a state-of-the-art Adam Sound speaker system) is pairing a self-curated vinyl experience with an artisanal cocktail menu – with every whim catered to by a dedicated personal concierge, or Experience Host.

Ensconced in the opulent surrounds of the listening bar’s low-light interior (which can host 18 guests cocktail style, or 12 seated), visitors can show off their impeccable music taste, compiling a playlist from a collection of 100 vinyl records currently in the lounge’s library.

Those happy to leave the selection in the hands of a pro can go on a journey plotted by the W Music Curator, Adam Swain, who can soundtrack the evening with a tailored compilation encompassing soft rock, jazz or something completely unexpected.

W Brisbane’s listening lounge also features a first-of-its-kind ‘Press for Martini’ button, which gives access to a divine drinks list filled with lip-smacking martini riffs, including the Sound of Salt (a Japanese-inspired number made with miso-infused Belvedere 10) and the Sound of Violet (a heady mix of fig-infused gin, butterfly pea tea and house-made yuzu cordial).

On the food front, W Brisbane is putting a twist on late-night soul food, giving hungry guests the opportunity to devour bite-sized morsels like Oscietra caviar blinis, whipped feta with fig and caramelised pecans, and truffled wagyu sausage rolls.

The W Brisbane Listening Lounge has officially opened its doors for private bookings from 4:00 pm to 12:00 am, Thursday to Sunday. Head to the W Brisbane website for more information.
