This winter, one of the Sunshine Coast’s most anticipated food events returns for a vibrant afternoon out in the hinterland with delicious eats, drinks and live music. As a signature highlight of The Curated Plate festival, Sunshine Coast Asian Food Festival 2026 will take over Spicers Tamarind Retreat on Saturday August 1 for an immersive celebration of flavour and community. Within the scenic 18-acre Maleny property, this year’s event will bring bold Asian-inspired dishes, curated beverages and a laid-back, picnic-style atmosphere.
Showcasing new and returning culinary talents, Sunshine Coast Asian Food Festival will see chefs from leading Asian restaurants across the coast each present one signature dish. From The Tamarind, head chef Alex Hall brings a fire-driven, hyper-local approach with his wood-fired chicken satay with cucumber and chilli dressing, while Pocky’s Daniel Jarrett’s vibrant, street-food-influenced Southeast Asian style materialises in his crispy local Eat Clean Mate tempeh with FermenStation miso glaze and yuzu slaw. Diners can treat themselves to the aromatic Thai-driven flavours of Spirit House’s head chef Tom Hitchcock, who will bring Khao soi dumplings, Mooloolaba prawns and crispy noodles to the table, joined by the bold, high-energy style of Rice Boi head chef James Fraser’s beef massaman steamed bun with Sunny Ginger and lemongrass mayo. Honeysuckle Buderim also joins the lineup, with chef Nathan Rumble showcasing his Korean and East Asian influences through his Suncoast Harvest strawberry, Sunny Ginger and perilla cheesecake cornetto for a sweet finish.
The festival has also collaborated with beverage partners Twelve & A Half Acres Gin, Joval Wines, Brockenchack Wines, Brouhaha Brewery and Sunshine & Sons to ensure glasses are topped up with the best on offer, while an oyster and champagne bar adds a touch of elegance to a relaxing day out.
With three ticket options available, from general admission to platinum VIP, and the option to make it a full weekend getaway at Spicers Tamarind Retreat – there are many ways to celebrate and experience the Sunshine Coast Asian Food Festival this year.
