After years of anticipation, luxury rainforest bathhouse SOL Elements, inspired by the Japanese wabi sabi philosophy, is preparing to welcome its very first guests by week’s end. Bound by water in the serene surrounds of Tamborine Mountain, the hinterland’s newest wellness destination – which features everything from communal onsens to Himalayan salt caves – is unlike anything we’ve seen before. Take a peek …
A sanctuary for rejuvenation and balance, SOL Elements is an elemental bathhouse that will invite guests to immerse themselves in the regenerative power of nature’s four elements – earth, water, air and fire. Built on water within the Tamborine Mountain Glades precinct, SOL Elements is all about reconnecting with the flow of nature through a bounty of blissful facilities and holistic treatments.
The striking design, a collaboration between founders Russell and Shae Raven and Design Artisan Co, draws on the Japanese philosophy of wabi sabi and the harmony of the elements to create a sanctuary where every detail invites connection, reflection and renewal.
Step inside and you’ll find an elemental journey that blends ancient bathing traditions with modern wellness design. The communal space is an intimate setting for just 30 guests, with magnesium thermal pools, cold plunges, a cedar wood sauna perched over the lake, a silent steam room and a Himalayan salt cave. A sunken firepit, set below water level, flickers softly in the background. For ultimate privacy, two secluded suites feature thermal mineral baths on private balconies, infrared saunas, ice baths and sweeping lake views, paired with wellness mini bars and ceremonial tea stations.
Guests can craft their own botanical body scrub at the Earth Suite and Botanical Scrub Bar, soak in magnesium float caves or indulge in one of six Alchemy Spa Rituals by Synthesis Organics, such as the two-hour Signature SOL Transcendence Ritual or the Earthing Immersion stone and sound journey. Phones are absent by design, ensuring every moment is immersed in nature and sensory connection.
“This has been four years in the making – a journey filled with challenges, breakthroughs, tears and laughter,” says co-founder Russell. “Every detail has been considered, every element crafted with intention, to create something we believe hasn’t been seen before in the Australian wellness space. SOL is quite literally, our heart and soul, and we can’t wait to open our doors and welcome guests into our elemental sanctuary we’ve dreamed of for so long.”
SOL Elements is open now for those ready to pause, breathe and step into a world where nature, design and wellness converge in perfect balance. Head over here to make a booking.
