Premier pilates club NUA Studios is set to open in May
After years of teaching, working behind the scenes in studio operations, hosting wellness retreats in Byron Bay and more, Katie Gosson is finally set to open the doors to her first Pilates studio. NUA Studios will be located across the road from Mosconi at 163 Arthur Street, just a stone’s throw from the hustle of James Street. After observing that many wellness studios either lack a sense of community or fall short on aesthetics, Katie set out to create something different. Her vision is a soulful space that goes beyond the typical studio experience – one which is built around community, with a strong emphasis on intentional design. “If I’m in a room for 45 minutes, I want it to be a beautiful one,” she says. The studio will offer reformer pilates, mat pilates and yoga, alongside an app where members can explore instructor profiles, track their progress and browse different class types – with plans to introduce virtual classes in the future. Stay tuned here for promotional and community events in the lead-up to opening.

Romance The Novel bookstore to open later this year
After identifying a gap in the market, writer Scarlett Hopper opened Sydney’s first romance bookstore, Romance The Novel (RTN) in late 2024. Now, 18 months later, she is preparing to unveil a second store in Brisbane this September. The shop will act as a community space for both writers and readers to come together and celebrate the genre, stocking a wide range of romance titles alongside special editions, book-related stationery and merchandise – including Kindle charms. Alongside its retail offering, Scarlett plans to host local book club events, author talks and craft nights. While the store’s location is still under wraps, it’s set to carry the same heart and charm as its New South Wales counterpart – but with its own unique Brisbane flair. Romance The Novel is expected to open its doors in September this year. Head over here for more details, including how you could score a free goodie bag on opening day.

A women-led creative studio launches in Bulimba
The terracotta walls on Karthina Street in Bulimba might look beautiful from the outside, but there’s more to this space than meets the eye. Step inside and you’ll find an inspiring, light-filled, editorial-style studio where creative projects can come to life. Established in late 2025 by all-female team Atelier Social Agency, Studio Atelier has quickly become a venue attracting photographers and boutique retailers looking for the perfect photoshoot location. The space features burnished concrete floors that contrast with the studio’s curated furniture pieces (yes aesthetic green couch, we see you!) alongside a selection of textured backdrops designed for the modern creator. Beyond photography and content creation, Studio Atelier is also available for workshops, product launches and community gatherings. Located just a 12-minute drive from the Brisbane CBD, the studio offers two allocated onsite car parks with ample street parking nearby. Whether you need a space for your next creative project, content shoot or private event, Studio Atelier is now open for bookings here

ALCOVE coworking space is set to arrive on Eagle Street this May
Gone are the days of dull and uninspiring office spaces, as a new benchmark for corporate coworking is set to arrive with ALCOVE at 70 Eagle Street. ALCOVE is the latest – and most premium – venture from YoCo Group (The Factory and Work X in Fortitude Valley, Mobo Co in South Brisbane and The Junction in Slacks Creek) and marks
the first corporate-led, design-focused coworking space in Brisbane’s inner-city. Repositioned by Sydney-based architect Seidler, the space spans three levels and features 72 private office suites, 48 dedicated desks and elevated meeting and collaboration spaces designed with a contemporary flair. YoCo founder Yusuf Oner identified a gap in the market, noting that businesses are increasingly seeking environments that “elevate how they meet, present and create.” ALCOVE delivers just that – a light-filled, thoughtfully designed workspace created to inspire and energise. ALCOVE is set to open in early May – stay tuned for more.
