Game, set, match … drink! Brisbane’s first tennis social club for women has arrived
With a shared passion for tennis and friendly competition, Brisbane-born Northsiders Emili and Renee launched Rally to Rosé in February 2026. After spending most of their lives courtside with a racquet in hand, the founders – who formed a friendship through in-house fixtures, matching outfits and a love of rosé – decided to embrace the learning curve that comes with starting their own club. No strangers to being outnumbered in a male-dominated sport, Emili and Renee are on a mission to bring women into tennis, or welcome them back to the game, by creating opportunities for genuine connection, confidence and community. With the motto, ‘Come for the Rally, stay for the Rosé’, every event includes food and drinks, with recent collaborations featuring Woggy Weekender and DJ Big Sauce. Looking ahead, the duo hopes to partner with local cafés and bars, believing the off-court experience is just as important as the game itself. Rally to Rosé events are currently held at New Farm Park, with plans to expand to monthly events at tennis venues across Brisbane. The warmth and support from the community have already been overwhelming, with an incredibly positive response from women who attended the first two events. Romancing The Novel bookstore to open in August
After identifying a gap in the market, writer Scarlett Hopper opened Sydney’s first romance bookstore, Romancing The Novel (RTN) in late 2024. Now, 18 months later, she is preparing to unveil a second store in Brisbane this August. The shop will act as a community space for both writers and readers to come together and celebrate the genre, stocking a wide range of romance titles alongside special editions, book-related stationery and merchandise – including Kindle charms. Alongside its retail offering, Scarlett plans to host local book club events, author talks and craft nights. While the store’s location is still under wraps, it’s set to carry the same heart and charm as its New South Wales counterpart – but with its own unique Brisbane flair. Romancing The Novel is expected to open its doors in August this year. Head over here for more details, including how you could score a free goodie bag on opening day.
