The Bread Social, 12 Bay Street
If you can’t help yourself when it comes to baked goods, chances are you’re already well acquainted with The Bread Social. Having taken over the Gold Coast and Northern Rivers with locations in Currumbin Waters, Byron Bay and Isle of Capri, the Tweed Heads outpost serves up many of the same beloved doughy favourites. The display cabinet is packed with signature treats including custard tarts, fruit-topped danishes, almond croissants, pies, sandwiches and – of course – the famous sourdough. Coffee fiends can also curb their cravings with espressos and batch brews poured from Single O beans.

Dayo Cafe, 118 Wharf Street
The owners of popular Kingcliff’s cafe George’s Deli, Johnny Ang and Jerrika Guiang, alongside Johnny’s sister and chef Kristyn Ang, opened Dayo Cafe earlier this year. Located on the Tweed Heads waterfront, the team have reshaped the expansive site previously home to Baked at Ancora. The 120-seat venue has been given a complete refresh by KOBI Concepts, blending pastel tones, soft textures and nostalgic touches inspired by 90s Filipino homes. The menu is rooted in Filipino and Southeast Asian traditions with a modern twist. Highlights include the spicy Longganisa scramble with house-made Filipino sausage, the crowd-pleasing K-Pop chicken waffle with spicy maple and tomato mascarpone, and the hearty beef omurice. Open daily for breakfast and lunch, Dayo is a waterfront brunch spot worth seeking out.

Tucked away on Stuart Lane – around the back of Bay Street – you’ll find coffee, smoothie and sandwich shop, Delightful. On the menu you’ll discover hot ticketed items including the chipotle chicken sandwich, banana bread matcha and avocado toast with honey (don’t knock it till you try it!). Planning a Saturday afternoon feast and forgot to organise catering? Make sure to scope out Delightful’s other half, Deluxe Grazing.
